Top Tips to Prevent Tooth Stains

teeth health smile dentist

We all want to possess a white, bright smile. While regular trips to the dentist are obviously important, it is just as prudent to recognise the different types of stains as well as how to treat them.

Some stains exist only because tiny particles have amassed on the tooth’s surface, causing external discolouration. Other stains are caused when particles penetrate the enamel, or can originate from inside a dead or dying teeth.

Tips for avoiding teeth stains

  • Quit smoking
  • Avoid dark-coloured fruits and sticky foods
  • Floss regularly
  • Avoid too much chocolate
  • Drink white wine instead of red when possible
  • Maintain proper regular daily oral hygiene

For good daily hygiene ensure you brush twice daily with a good quality toothbrush.

Take care of what you eat and drink and for those items known to cause stains, consume them in moderation.  Discover more in our article 8 Common Causes of Tooth Stains.
