Having a Great Smile Has a Direct Impact on Your Self-Confidence

smile teeth health dentistPeople who have great smile don’t think much about it. The opposite is true for people who have imperfect smiles.

An imperfect smile is a source of stress and anxiety. Many people want to hide their smile if their teeth are stained, crooked or if they have missing teeth.

Studies reveal that a beautiful smile is closely linked to high self-confidence. Further findings reveal that it can also increase happiness and make you less anxious.

People who tend to avoid the dentist were found to have an unhappy life. These people are most likely to have gum disease, missing teeth, and other oral health issues. Neglect of oral healthcare will also lead to poor overall health.

By having your best smile, you not only improve overall health but you also improve your happiness. Smiling, both genuine and faked has been found to improve your mood and boost the immune system. The simple act of smiling releases endorphins which are the feel good hormones. Therefore, people who smile more tend to be happier and more confident.

People who are self-conscious of their smiles will in most cases avoid smiling which will have negative effect in their mood and health. You may no longer feel the joy and happiness that arises from speaking and laughing without holding back.

Since self esteem begins in childhood, an imperfect smile in childhood can have a big impact to your self esteem in adulthood. The imperfect smile will have an impact on your success, approachability and confidence.

By getting a beautiful smile, you will be increasing attractiveness and you will appear an approachable and trustworthy individual. A pleasant smile will make people more warm and open. Visit your dentist to have your smile evaluated and to have treatment given where necessary to improve your smile.
